Our Story

Founded in 2012 in San Francisco, California, CodeShare emerged from a simple idea: to create a platform where developers could easily share and collaborate on code snippets. Our founder, Alex Mitchell, a software engineer at a leading tech company, recognized the need for a streamlined way to share code examples with colleagues.

What began as a small project quickly grew into a thriving community of developers from around the world. By 2015, CodeShare had over 100,000 registered users and had become a go-to resource for programmers of all skill levels looking to share knowledge and improve their coding skills.

Our Mission

At CodeShare, our mission was to democratize coding knowledge by providing a platform where developers could easily share, discover, and learn from code snippets. We believed that knowledge should be accessible to everyone, regardless of their background or experience level.

Our Legacy

From 2012 to 2019, CodeShare served as a vital resource for millions of developers worldwide. We hosted over 500,000 code snippets across more than 20 programming languages. Though we ceased operations in 2019, the impact of our platform continues to be felt throughout the development community.

Why We Closed

In late 2019, after seven years of serving the developer community, we made the difficult decision to close CodeShare. Changes in the technology landscape and increasing competition from larger platforms made it challenging to continue offering the level of service our users deserved.

We're proud of what we accomplished during our time and grateful to all the developers who made CodeShare a vibrant community. This archive version of our platform is maintained as a historical resource for those who relied on our services.
